Ministries & Classes

Reaching the world for Jesus Christ one person at a time is not just an empty tagline. It is the driving focus of our church and the Outreach Ministry seeks to provide opportunities for our people to put action to these words. Jesus last words in the Gospel of Matthew were, “Go into all the world and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Outreach isn’t a program here at VRL, but permeates everything we do as we equip, engage and mobilize our body to serve and love those in our local and international community.

VRL has defined our outreach endeavors into 4 Aims:

1. Loving Kids

  • Local schools
  • Foster care and adoption
  • 2. Redeeming Stories

  • Recovery ministry at VRL
  • Working alongside local organization(s) helping people in our community transition through issues like poverty, homelessness, etc.
  • Support the organizations coming alongside people choosing life
  • Supporting those who have had an abortion
  • Standing up against sex trafficking and people in the sex industry
  • 3. Planting Churches

  • Planting churches focused on making disciples who make disciples
  • Coaching, encouraging and equipping other churches (Relational Discipleship Network)
  • 4. Discipling Nations

  • Building relationships with international church partners in order to assist, equip and sharpen one another in a common purpose of making disciples who make disciples
  • Applying our above mentioned areas of emphasis in an international setting and, whenever possible, doing this by supporting our international church partners

Your Sunday morning coffee purchase at Soul’d Out Café helps support the outreach partnerships of VRL both locally and abroad. Each month, Soul’d Out will have a different ministry focus and the proceeds will go to provide financial support and engagement opportunities for the body of VRL.

Antioch Adoptions: With a particular focus on helping foster-to-adopt families in the Spokane area, Antioch Adoptions connects orphans to Christian homes through their mission of “Making Family a Reality for Every Child.”

Life Services: As the crisis pregnancy center for the greater Spokane area, Life Services helps expectant moms with the resources they need to choose life for their child. The organization also connects women to adoption options as appropriate.

Ugandan Orphans: Valley Real Life’s partner church in Uganda, Living Spring Church, has an orphan ministry that currently numbers 521 kids without parents, many of whom live on their own. Funding will provide clothing, mosquito nets and setup a medical fund to resource Living Spring in its work with these kids.

VRL Adoption Fund: Finally, Valley Real Life is setting up an adoption fund through Lifesong for Orphans to help VRL families overcome the financial barriers of adoption. Money collected at Christmas Eve will help seed this new opportunity as we help one another bring orphans into VRL families and, by extension, our own church community.

    Super Bowl Food Challenge

One of VRL’s aims is “Loving Kids” in our community, and we are working week in and week out with kids in Central Valley School District and Trentwood Elementary who receive food at school during the week (through the free and reduced lunch program) but can’t rely on that over the weekend. Want to help? Enter VRL’s Super Bowl Food Challenge. We are challenging our church to BEAT last year’s amount and raise more than the 10,000 food items that we received last year! Bring in your food items during any service through February 5th.
